On 25 August, the final of the 19th edition of the National Competition of Dance for ‘Alegrías’ was held at theBaluarte de la Candelaria of Cádiz, organised by the historic Cádiz club La Perla de Cádiz. Once again this entity demonstrated its ability to attract emerging young talents from Spain and abroad, as each year there is a representative from other countries who certify with their presence the enormous cultural influence of this art and culture around the world.

This year the finalists were, in addition to the winner Alejandra Gutiérrez Díaz, who won the first prize, Illana Gómez from the USA, Paula Comitre from Seville and Alejandro Rodríguez from Cádiz. The first prize, sponsored by Tablao Flamenco Cordobes de Barcelona, as in previous editions, was awarded by Luis Adame, founder and owner of the same, in a ceremony full of symbolism and illusions.

Tablao Flamenco Cordobes’ commitment to flamenco culture and its dissemination is a constant in its social activity and one of its hallmarks. On 22nd September, as part of the gypsy film series ‘O Dikhipen’ (meaning ‘look’ in caló), there will be a screening of the show ‘Carmen, Carmen, Carmen’, which under the direction of Luis Adame produced Tablao Flamenco Cordobes on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the death of the great dancer Carmen Amaya, and which she has been representing on different dates at the Palau de la Música Catalana, always performed by relevant professionals.

The celebration of the 50th anniversary of Tablao Flamenco Cordobes in 2020 will be the apotheosis of this commitment and passion for the dissemination of our flamenco culture.
