Farru, Prize for the Promotion of Gypsy Art and Culture 2018 awarded by the Gypsy Brotherhood of Andalusia

Antonio Fernández Montoya, a regular artist at Tablao Flamenco Cordobes, has received the Prize for the Promotion of Gypsy Art and Culture from the Gypsy Brotherhood of Andalusia at the 'VI Gypsy Awards 2018'. Known in the world of flamenco as 'Farru', Antonio Fernández Montoya has been awarded this prize for his extensive career in the defence and dissemination of flamenco and gypsy culture. In addition, the Federation of Gypsy Associations of Catalonia has also been awarded in the category 'Toda una Trayectoria'. For the last six years, the 'Gypsy Prizes' have distinguished the work carried out in favour of the people and for the gypsy people through different awards in different categories and which are given to artists, institutions, private entities or people who have stood out in these fields.

Antonio Fernández Montoya, a regular artist at Tablao Flamenco Cordobes, has received the Prize for the Promotion of Gypsy Art and Culture from the Gypsy Brotherhood of Andalusia at the ‘VI Gypsy Awards 2018’. Known in the world of flamenco as ‘Farru’, Antonio Fernández Montoya has been awarded this prize for his extensive career in the defence and dissemination of flamenco and gypsy culture. In addition, the Federation of Gypsy Associations of Catalonia has also been awarded in the category ‘Toda una Trayectoria’. For the last six years, the ‘Gypsy Prizes’ have distinguished the work carried out in favour of the people and for the gypsy people through different awards in different categories and which are given to artists, institutions, private entities or people who have stood out in these fields.

 

In these awards has also been awarded the Junta de Castilla y León and the Cortes de Castilla y León with the ‘Award for Solidarity and Social Welfare’ for their support for primary school students to study history and culture of the Romany population. Manuel García Rondón has also received awards in the same category as the Federation of Romany Associations of Catalonia, the writer Fernando Ojeda López-Tapia and the film “Camarón” in the category ‘Information and Dissemination of Romany Culture’, El Dorado El Palmar and Rosa María García (Niña Pastori) in the category ‘Gypsy Art and Culture Promotion Award 2018’, María Fe Muñoz Fernández, from the Instituto de Cultura Flamenca, in the category ‘Gypsy 2018’ and the artist Antonio Heredia Maldonado in the category ‘Gypsy 2018’.

 

Tablao Flamenco Cordobes shows its support for all the initiatives that, like the historic tablao of Las Ramblas in Barcelona, carry out actions in defence and diffusion of gypsy and flamenco culture as well as the commitment to divulge the purest flamenco on our stage.
