Tablao Cordobes Named Best Flamenco Venue in the World

Tablao Flamenco Cordobes in Barcelona has been recognized as the Best Flamenco Venue in the World at the 10th edition of the Silverio Franconetti International Flamenco Awards, organized by the Escuela de Flamenco de Andalucía (EFA).

This award not only recognizes our trajectory, but also the effort of all the artists, the team, and the audience who join us night after night. This recognition also belongs to you,” said María Rosa, second generation of the family that still runs the historic tablao, which this year celebrates its 55th anniversary with an extraordinary program featuring artists such as Jesús Carmona, Alfonso Losa, José Maya, and Karime Amaya, among others.

This prestigious award, granted by a jury of experts chaired by renowned flamenco scholar Manuel Bohórquez, reaffirms the position of Tablao Flamenco Cordobes as an international benchmark in arte jondo. The jury for this edition also included figures such as Merche Esmeralda, Paco Cepero, Carmen Arjona, and Chemi López, among others.

This year’s awards also honored legendary figures such as Aurora Vargas, El Pele, Pepa Montes, Gerardo Núñez, Manolo Marín, and Lucía Beltrán, further consolidating the Silverio Franconetti Awards as one of the most prestigious recognitions in flamenco worldwide.

In previous editions, the Best Flamenco Venue award has gone to institutions such as Corral de la Morería or Los Gallos of Seville. This year’s award to El Cordobes is a tribute to over half a century of history, dedication, and love for flamenco, lived every night in the heart of Las Ramblas.

Since its founding in 1970, Tablao Flamenco Cordobes has been a sacred stage—an essential stop for flamenco legends and a springboard for young talents—maintaining an artistic vision that respects tradition while embracing innovation. This recognition arrives in a particularly symbolic year: the 55th anniversary of El Cordobes.

The awards ceremony will take place on November 16th at the Palacio de Congresos in Cádiz, coinciding with World Flamenco Day and the 15th anniversary of its recognition as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.
