El Carpeta at the Iberian Contemporary Festival

Between 6 July and 20 July, the Mexican city of Querétaro is hosting the seventh edition of the biennial Ibérica Contemporánea festival, an appointment with flamenco, fashion, the seventh art and gastronomy. Manuel Fernández Montoya (El Carpeta) took part in the event with a show on 12 July. The 21-year-old bailaor from Seville from the Farruco saga (his grandfather was the flamenco legend Antonio Montoya Farruco, his mother La Farruca and he is the younger brother of the dancers Farruquito and Farru) performed at the festival during the Gala Ibérica.

After passing through Mexico, El Carpeta will return to Tablao Flamenco Cordobes during the first fortnight of August in the show ‘Joven Talento Flamenco’, in which he will share the stage with Tete Fernández and which will feature guest artists such as Sara Barrero and Davinia Jaén.

During the Ibérica Contemporánea festival there was also a tribute to the Catalan dancer Antonia Santiago “La Chana” and other flamenco artists who usually step Tablao Flamenco Cordobes as the singers Antonio Campos and Ezequiel Montoya (who will also be in the second half of August next to El Carpeta) as well as guitarists Oscar Lago and José Luis Medina among others.
