What is a Flamenco show?

The show you will enjoy does not follow a script, does not tell a particular story, but speaks of the human condition in general, or simply of everyday life. Music and dance in its purest form.

The cante jondo is a lament, a scream, a clamor, a laugh ... Small poems of popular origin or great poets of Spanish literature, which the cantaor reels according to his inspiration, without any script, and without any other servitude than the rhythm and the kind of singing he plays.

There are cantes of love to the compañera or the mother, of nostalgia for the land, of clamor from the prison or the lack of love, of accompaniment in the labors of the field or laments from the depth of the mines ... They sometimes express joy and joy, and other times they are pure expression of pain. What are called "palos" of flamenco make up a leafy genealogical tree of a multitude of classes of cantes, which are based on different rhythmic combinations, and have different geographical origins.

On the basis of the rhythm, -drive and magic thread-, sing, guitar and dance are twisted: mutually they recreate, inspire, answer, contrast or accompany ... improvisation is that part of flamenco that can not be found in the choreography of a theater or an audiovisual show, and that can only be lived in a tablao.

That is why you should not be surprised when, politely, you are asked to be silent. That is the sign that you are contemplating an authentic flamenco show. The rhythm is sacred, and nothing should tarnish or interfere so that the interpretation of the artists is accurate and brilliant.

When watching an authentic flamenco show, you do not have to try to understand, but simply let yourself go and feel ... that is the best way to understand and immerse yourself in that art.

You will enjoy a thousand-year-old culture that is transmitted through emotion, or what flamencos call "El duende" (... or magic, mystery, emotion ...). We will love to share it with you at Tablao Flamenco Cordobes de Barcelona.
