Juan Francisco Requena Barrionuevo, born in Malaga and stage name Juan Requena, started his career at age 16 in his hometown, working in various ballets and flamenco tablaos in the province.

At 19 he moved to Madrid, where he began working with the ballet company of Rafael Aguilar, Domingo Ortega, Alejandro Granados, Mariano Cruceta, Belén Maya, Yolanda Heredia, Belen Fernandez, Jose Maya, La Chunga, Tomas de Madrid, Diego El Cigala, Guadiana and second guitar with Victor Monge “Serranito”, etc.
In 1998, together with Domingo Patricio, produces the album “Mi Carmen Flamenca” for the company of Maria Serrano, with the collaboration of artists like Juan Manuel Cañizares, Carles Benavent, El Cigala, Guadiana, El Piraña, etc., making two years European tours.
At age 25 he moved to Seville, participating in the Biennale in 2000, with Rafael de Carmen’s show “Colors”.
Then he was hired by the Andalusian Dance Company as Musical Director, where he composed the music for the show “Encuentros”, whose choreographers are: Eva Yerbagüena, Alejandro Granados, Isabel Bayon, Rafael Campallo, being the company director Jose Antonio Ruiz. In the next show “La Leyenda” he composed the music together with the guitarist José Antonio Rodríguez and choreographed by José Antonio Ruiz, after going to be played by the National Dance Company.
He was the guitarist in the show “Trilogía” by Andres Marin, Rafael Campallo and Alejandro Granados.
Later plays the guitar for dancers as Hiniesta Cortés, Isabel Bayon, Pastora Galván, Rafaela Carrasco, Joaquin Grilo, Manuela Carrasco, Farruquito, La Moneta, The Farru, Rocio Molina, Daniel Navarro, the folder, the Farruca, etc. and singers like Jose Valencia, Duquende, Potito, David Lagos, The Londro Jose Angel Carmona, Rafael de Utrera, La Tana, Archangel, Remedios Amaya, La Fabi, Juan José Amador, Peter Granaino, etc.
He has collaborated with Farruquito in the film “Flamenco Flamenco” by Carlos Saura.
He has produced albums for Jose Valencia, Jose Angel Carmona, Jesús Corbacho and Manuel Parrilla.
He has collaborated on albums by José Anillo, José Valencia, Jesús Corbacho, Jose Manuel Leon, Jose Angel Carmona, Encarna Anillo, Tribute to Manzanita and La Tremendita.
He was awarded the Giraldillo for best rhythm guitar in the 2012 Seville Biennial. He recently made his first album entitled “Arroyo de la Miel”, starting his solo career.
