David Romero
Born in Barcelona into a family of flamenco lovers, he grew up attending to flamenco clubs in Barcelona. Romero has learned from artists such as Antonio Canales, Eva Yerbabuena, Rafael de Carmen, Güito, Rafaela Carrasco. He began his solo career in 1994 in some scenarios of Barcelona, especially in "Tablao Flamenco Cordobes".

He performed at the Antonio Mairena Memorial Flamenco Festival, in L’Hospitalet, where he shared the stage with Manuel Mairena, José Meneses and La Revuelo. In the show “Som D’Aquí” in the Auditorium of Cornellà, with Chicuelo, Miguel Poveda and Mayte Martín.
He won the Honor Prize “Carmen Amaya” for the most complete dancer in the Young Values Contest in L’Hospitalet, he’s the only participant who has got 6 awards of the contest and participated in the Exhibition of Flamenco dancing alongside Rafael de Carmen, Milagros Mengibar and El Pipa.
He moved to Madrid where he is part of the different flamenco shows in Tablaos as “Las Carboneras”, with Concha Jareño are presented in “Café de Chinitas”, “Corral de la Morería” and “Casa Patas”. He has worked in companies as Juan Andrés Maya’s, guitarist Paco Peña’s, Rafael Amargo’s, Lola Greco’s, Joaquin Cortes’ “Pure Passion” with Rafaela Carrasco, Carmen “La Talegona” Lola Greco and Cristóbal Reyes, New Spanish Ballet (NBE), Juan de Juan’s company, Antonio Canales’ representing shows as Torero, Bernarda Alba, Bailaor, Minotaur… Presented at the Teatro Lope de Vega in Seville’s Bienal.
2004: Thanks to Cristina Hoyos he presents his group at the prestigious tablao “El Flamenco” in Tokyo (Japan). In the Guitar Festival of Tertulia Flamenca in L’Hospitalet (Barcelona) he presents a piece of his future show “Flamenco a 4”.
2005: In the VIIIth Choreography Competition in Madrid he was finalist with his choreography “Who says no?”. Then he moved to Sevilla where he works in the Tablao “Los Gallos”. Creates a company and releases its first show “Flamenco a 4” in the Madrid Sala Triángulo, getting good reviews from press and public.
2006: Gets the award for Artistic Work by the Andalusian Entities Coordinator Federation of Barcelona. Presents in the Youth Theatre of L’Hospitalet, the show “Who says no?”. Then he works for one season at Sala Triángulo in Madrid, Flamenco Festival in Beziers (France) and several events and festivals in Seville, Barcelona and Madrid.
2007-2008: He returns to Tablao “El Flamenco” in Tokyo (Japan). Alongside guitarist Chicuelo, he is guest artist, choreographs and directs the Japanese dancer Shoji Kojima’s company, where he is nominated as best show of Performing Arts 2008. At Sala Apolo (Barcelona) presents his show “Corredera”. Back to Rafael Amargo’s company as a choreographer in his new show “Enramblao 2” in the Tivoli Theatre in Barcelona. He directs his own dance studio “Barceloneta Dance” in Barcelona.
2009: Artistic Director and choreographer, working with artists like Carmen “The Talegona” Manuel Rios, Juan Ogalla, El Pelon, Amador Rojas… Nou Barris Festival, Barcelona, performing alongside Israel Galván.
2010: He travels doing intensive dance courses in Spain and Argentina, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Canada…
2011: Finalist Award of “XIX National Flamenco Dancing contest”, Cordoba (Spain). Tours Argentina (Rosario, Cordoba and Buenos Aires), where he teaches courses in dance and various performances. Courses in Montreal and Quebec (Canada).
2012: He begins to accompanyt guitarist Chicuelo in his different shows and presents his tribute to Camaron with the show “A Legend of Time” performed by Duquende in the 2012 Barcelona Ciutat Flamenco Festival, the International Festival of Flamenco in Moscow (Russia), Bordeaux… Flamenco Festival in Beziers, where the Company presents the show “Step by Step”. Travels to Halifax (Canada) where he presents the show “Flamenco unipersonal” with Flavio Rodrigues and Pedro Obregón and makes various courses. Courses in Switzerland. Catalunya Arte Flamenco Festival in Barcelona.
2013: David accompanies Duquende presenting his new album “Rompecabezas” on tour in Bruges (Belgium) and Ciutat Flamenco Festival 2013 in Barcelona. Creates “Flamenco Code” show presented in Barcelona. Collaborates with the Taller de Musics produced in Barcelona and, alongside the Catalan singer Sanjosex and Chicuelo, creates “Conexions” fusión show. With Chicuelo teaches at the School of Music Taller de Musics in Barcelona.
2014: He presents the show “Flamenco Forever”. Does a course in Switzerland and Sevilla. He is soloist in Flamenco de Madrid’s company in the show “Flamenco Experience” and the Apolo Theater in Barcelona. Teaches general classes and master classes in different schools of Barcelona.
