Alba Heredia

Alba Heredia was born in the gypsy neighborhood of Sacromonte, specifically in the cave "La Rocío". She was baptized in the presence of the Duchess of Alba, who is also her godmother. With only 4 years old she began to take her first steps as a dancer. Alba belongs to one of the most emblematic flamenco dynasties: Los Maya, is therefore the niece of great masters such as Manolete, Mario Maya and Juan Maya Marote.

Alba belongs to one of the most emblematic flamenco dynasties: Los Maya, is therefore the niece of great masters such as Manolete, Mario Maya and Juan Maya Marote.

From very pequeñita began to act in the cave of his grandmother “La Rocío”. At age four he debuted at the Sports Palace of Granada in the homage to his uncle Juan Maya Marote with artists such as Niña Pastori, José Mercé, El Guito, Mario Maya, Eva la Yerbabuena, Manolete, Juan Andrés Maya, KETAMA, Aurora Vargas and Pansequito among others.

For more than 4 years Alba is enclosed to study the dance by the hand of first-rate artists such as Juan Andrés Maya, Iván Vargas, Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, etc.

Since 2004, he began his solo career at the prestigious XV Youth Festival in the Northern Zone before more than 5,000 people, getting very good reviews and revealing himself as a great artist, leaving behind the girl that everyone expected to see.

A year later he debuted at Casa Patas, and soon after he would also do it at the Corral de la Morería. He also participated in the Passion of Christ, where he performs a fabulous choreographed performance by his uncle Juan Andrés Maya.

In this same year Alba works on numerous occasions in the prestigious clubs of Granada, such as the Peña de la Plateria, combining the daily performances in her grandmother’s Zambra where she does not stop learning and gain strength, a characteristic feature of the bailaores of Pomegranate.

At the end of 2005, Alba closed the VI Autumn Festival of Granada, together with the prestigious artist Enrique Morente.

In 2006, he performed for several festivals in Granada in the Curro Albayzín painting, representing the generations of the Zambras and closing the Albayzín festival together with the Manolete company. She also appears as a guest artist in the Canal Sur program “Menuda Noche” to surprise her godmother the Duchess of Alba with the accompaniment of Juan Habichuela Nieto’s guitar.

In the year 2007 Alba decided to collaborate in the Flamenco Festival organized by ASPROGRADES, charity flamenco festival. That same year he presented his solo show in the prestigious auditorium of “La Chumbera” in Sacromonte Granada. In June 2008 he was a finalist and first prize of the VEO VEO of the contest of autonomous communities of Andalusia and six months later he obtained the second position in the national VEO VEO contest.

That same year he participated with his uncle in the autumn festival of Granada in 2008 with the show “Granada en cuerpo y alma”. Other shows such as “FURIA MAYA” “La Pasión de Cristo” with guest artists such as Montse Cortés and “El Nacimiento” etc.

In July 2009 he performed at the Veranos del Corral, surprising the city of Granada and sharing the stage with great artists such as Manuel Liñan, Fuensanta la Moneta and Belén Maya.

During 2010, Alba works with Estrella Morente’s company in the Maestranza de Sevilla together with Enrique Morente and Juan Andrés Maya. This same year Alba in December embarks on a one-week trip with Curro Albayzín in France and several cities of the same, at the Lyon festival among others.

Alba also danced for the first US Lady Michelle Obama in her Visit to Granada in 2010 to her grandmother’s Cave “LA ROCÍO”. In 2011, Alba works at the prestigious Flamenco Festival of the city of ESCH in France with her show “AlborCalé” sharing the bill with artists such as Fuensanta la Moneta, Belén Maya, Fran Espinosa, among others.

In July 2011 at Alba the flame of the program “TU SI QUE VALES”, being finalist and obtaining the second prize of the contest. In 2011 and 2012, Alba continues to improve by teaching classical classes with the teacher Maite Galán and in the school of the dancer Mariquila with WIlliam and his wife Marisa.

In 2012 he began to give master classes at the international flamenco school of Granada Manolete, in “La Chumbera” with his uncle MANOLETE, Juana Amaya and Farruquito.

Also this year Alba works in one of the shows of her cousin Iván Vargas at a major festival in Marseille in France, and later in Granada with the show entitled “YO MISMO” performed at the international school festival of “Carmen de las Caves “in Granada.

Still in 2012, Alba also works with Juan Andrés Maya with Diálogo del Amargo from her uncle Mario Maya in her small tribute rendered by Juan Andrés Maya together with Diego Llori.

The following year she attended classes with teacher Milagros Mengíbar, to perfect her dance with a bata de cola and rehearsed with Juan Andrés Maya for various future projects. Still in 2013, Alba participates again in the Veranos del Corral, sharing the stage with artists such as Iván Vargas, José Enrique Morente Carbonell and Ana Calí, among others.

On September 17 of the same year, Alba returns to perform called by the first lady of the USA Michelle Obama in a private party at the Palacio de los Córdoba in Granada.

On September 27, 2013, Alba premiered with her uncle Juan Andres Maya and her cousin Ivan Vargas at the Central theater of the city of Seville with a show called Homages.

In December 2013, Alba premiered a show at the Granada autumn festival called Savia Nueva, with Ivan Vargas and Karime Amaya.

On February 19 until March 25, 2014, Alba travels to Japan ‘Tokio’ with Ivan Vargas teaching professional classes, working in the prestigious ‘Sala Andaluza’ in Ebisu with Teruo Cabaya and doing shows in several theaters in Tokyo.

On July 19, 2014 Alba works at the Herradura Festival (Granada) together with Ivan Vargas and 5 days later travels to Olomouc, (Czech Republic) to present the show of ‘Savia Nueva’ with Ivan Vargas and Karime Amaya within the Festival so prestigious where last year the Maestro Paco de Lucia performed.

In August 2014, Alba performs in the flamenco cycle of Cádiz, in Baluarte de la Candelaria with Juan Andres Maya, sharing the stage with artists like Marina Heredia and others.

On September 5, 2014 Alba attends the tribute in Granada as a guest artist, dedicated to Maestro Enrique Morente, sharing a poster with artists such as Estrella Morente, Jose Enrique Morente, Juan Andres Maya, Pedro El Granaino, Fuensanta La Moneta, Ivan Vargas, among others.

Currently Alba is between Granada and Seville taking classes and working in the most prestigious tablaos of the areas, with projects abroad, Madrid and Japan again for the festival that will be in memory of Paco de Lucia
