José Montes

Discover José Montes, a rising flamenco dancer. Experience his art live in an unforgettable flamenco show in Barcelona.

José Montes began his artistic journey at the Conservatorio Profesional de Danza “Antonio Ruiz Soler” in Seville, where he graduated with a specialization in Spanish Dance. From the very beginning, he displayed remarkable talent and a deep emotional connection to flamenco, which led him to pursue excellence and refine his technique with passion and dedication.

Soon after, he joined the Centro Andaluz de Danza, directed by Rubén Olmo, where he expanded his training in different dance disciplines. This stage of his career allowed him to gain a broader vision of dance, combining technical precision with expressive interpretation.

In 2019, José took a decisive step by joining the Fundación de Arte Flamenco Cristina Heeren, where he was awarded scholarships for three consecutive years thanks to the support of Fundación Cajasol and the TreadRight Foundation. During this time, he studied with some of the most renowned flamenco masters, including Javier Barón, Luisa Palicio, Antonio Molina “El Choro,” María Moreno, Ana Morales, Pastora Galván, Eva Yerbabuena, and Rafael Campallo. His training at the foundation not only polished his dance technique but also deepened his understanding of the pure essence of flamenco.

Beyond his role as a student, José also worked as an assistant répétiteur, collaborating closely with acclaimed figures. In dance, he assisted Javier Barón, Milagros Mengíbar, and Antonio Molina “El Choro”; in singing, he worked with Esperanza Fernández and Juan José Amador; and in guitar, with Pedro Sierra and Salvador Gutiérrez. These experiences enriched his formation and prepared him for a professional career on the international stage.

In April 2021, José premiered his first original production, “Ciudad de Plata,” in Seville, which later traveled to Vienna. That same year, he collaborated with La Compañía B on the show “Recital,” performed at the Flamenco Festival “Verde, que te quiero, verde” in Andorra. He also took part in “Con Bata y Mantón,” a production of the Fundación Cristina Heeren, which was presented at the prestigious Teatro Real in Madrid.

Between 2023 and 2024, José embarked on four international tours in Mexico, performing in cities such as Guadalajara, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, and Mexico City. Throughout his career, he has also performed in countries such as Saudi Arabia, France, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Austria, and Morocco, consolidating his position as a promising figure of flamenco worldwide.

In Spain, José Montes has graced the stages of the most important flamenco tablaos. In Seville, he has performed at Tablao Las Setas, La Casa del Flamenco, La Casa de la Memoria, Teatro Flamenco Triana, and La Cantaora. In Barcelona, he has appeared at renowned venues such as Tablao Flamenco Cordobés, El Duende, Palau Dalmases, and City Hall. In Granada, his performances include Jardines del Zoraya, La Venta del Gallo, El Palacio del Flamenco, Casa del Arte, and Casa Ana. In Mexico, he has been featured at Juncal Tablao in Mexico City.
