Juan de Juan

Juan de Juan was born in Seville although he was raised in Morón de la Frontera, one of the most flamenco towns in Andalusia where he started his successful career.

NAME: Juan Carlos Ramírez Castillo, Juan de Juan PLACE OF BIRTH: Seville, 1979 STUDIES: He studied in the Royal Conservatory of Seville at the same time that he took classes from masters such as Ramón Barrús, Manolo Marín, Juan Amaya, Juan Ramírez, Ciro, Manolete, Ramón Barrull and Antonio Canales, who helped him to develop his professional career. CAREER: Juan de Juan was born in Seville although he was raised in Morón de la Frontera, one of the most flamenco towns in Andalusia where he started his successful career. He started dancing at the age of 7 with Juan Triana in the dance academy that he had in Morón. Later, he started taking classes from Juana Amaya. Two years later, he studied with Ramón Barrull and prepared his entrance in the Conservatory of Seville with Ana María Bueno and Carmen Montes. At the age of sixteen, he joined the Flamenco Ballet Company of Antonio Canales. Therefore, in 1996 he started learning from him until he became first dancer in such company. With this company, he has performed in the most important shows such asRaíz, Fuerza Latina, Romancero gitano, La Casa de Bernarda Alba, La Cenicienta, Prometeo and Bailaor, among others. He has danced throughout Spain and in the most important theatres and festivals in the world such as City Center of New York, Champs Elysées in París, National Theatre of Milan, etc. Some of the most important festivals in which Juan de Juan has showed his art have been the Spoleto Festival of USA and the Arts Festival in Hong Kong. He started his career as a soloist in 2001 with the play Pueblos in the Theatre Principe in Madrid with his own musical group. He did it again in Alicante with the show Anda-Luz with which he toured all Spain. In 2004, he created his own company called Flamenco Ballet Juan de Juan debuting with the choreography Torero, ceded by Canales. In 2007, at the age of 28, he released Inquietudes and performed it in the night of La Verdad, with the aim of getting the flamenco closer to the young audience adding piano, percussion and electric guitar to the acoustic guitars and flamenco voices. FESTIVALS: Spoleto Festival of USA and the Arts Festival in Hong Kong.
