Juan José Villar

Juan José Villar is a young dancer from Cádiz, the most recent link in the series of Los Villar y los Jinetos, a lineage of artists from Cádiz that began with his grandfather, cantaor Juanito Villar and who continued with his father, the singer also Juan Villar Junior. His mother, Susana Gómez, is also an artist, being in her case a dancer.

With all this family background behind him it is not surprising that Juan José has followed the steps of his ancestors. In fact, he felt the call of flamenco from very pequeñito, and with only 8 years and zapateba on the stage of the Peña Flamenca “La Perla de Cádiz”.

Studies:

Juan José Villar has received a classical training in dance. He has graduated from the professional dance conservatory “Antonio Ruiz Soler” (Sevilla), and has also taken courses with artists such as Concha Jareño, Juan Ogalla, Mercedes de Córdoba, Pepe Torres, La Lupi, Farruquito, Ángel Muñoz, David Paniagua, “El Güito” and also with Olga Pericet.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

He started dancing since he was very little, and when he was only 8 years old he made his debut at the Peña Flamenca “La Perla de Cádiz”. Years later, in 2006 he embarked on a tour of the country of the Rising Sun accompanied by his parents for 45 days. The talent, hard work and experience acquired allowed him to enter, one year later, the Professional Conservatory of Dance “Luis Del Río” (Córdoba) and in 2009 he participated in the well-known southern channel program called “Mi Primer Olé”.

For five summers, from 2010 to 2015, he returns to Japan to tour through regions such as Tokyo, Osaka, Nagano, Okinawa ….

In 2011 he participates in the dance corps of Yolanda Osuna’s company presenting Flamenco Experiences, for the “Cordobán” at the Gran Teatro de Córdoba. One year later he obtained the First Prize of the “National Contest of the Flamenco Dance of Villa de Guillena” (Seville).

In 2014 she worked in “Fitur por Córdoba Flamenca” (Madrid) and in 2015, as a result of her effort and dedication, she received the Third Dance Award for alegrías from the “National Contest of La Perla de Cádiz” and presented her first show “Es El Momento “, at the Teatro Central Lechera (Cádiz) with great success of public and critics.

Already in 2016, Juan José Villar rises with the First Prize in the “National Contest of Tablao Las Carboneras” (Madrid). That same year he was chosen among many Andalusian artists to act as guest artist in the “Improvisao Show, by Farruquito in the Quintero Theater” (Seville), as well as in the “Bailaores Show” together with Joni el Rivema and El Carpeta.

He has made several tours, among which we highlight a tour of Azerbaijan with Sergio Monroy’s “Chicuco show” and he has also participated in the Seville Biennial with the children’s show “La Sirenita Entre Mares Andaluces” produced by Flamencos por el Mundo (Starring the character of the Prince)

Finally, and to finish with the summary of the biography of this dancer from Cádiz, we can say that, throughout his professional career, he has shared a poster with artists such as Carmen Ledesma, Pepe Torres, Almudena Serrano and Choro Molina, among many others .
