Despite he was born in Barcelona, this flamenco singer has lived in many cities because he travelled with his mother due to her job as a dancer so he has been in contact with the flamenco art since he was young and he started performing very soon.

NAME: Miguel Ángel Montero Martín, known in the artistic industry as Miguel de la Tolea

PLACE OF BIRTH: Barcelona, 1977

FAMILY: Son of the flamenco dancer La Tolea.

CAREER: Despite he was born in Barcelona, this flamenco singer has lived in many cities because he travelled with his mother due to her job as a dancer so he has been in contact with the flamenco art since he was young and he started performing very soon. He performed his first flamenco recital at the age of 12 in the establishment that Maite Martín had in L’Eixample in Barcelona and later he started working in the different tablaos of the city: Tablao Flamenco Cordobes, Tablao del Carmen andLos Tarantos.

At the age of 16 he joined the group named Cambalache touring throughout Europe. He also performed along with his mother in different countries and at the age of 18 he kept touring the world with Joaquín Cortés’ company for a year and a half.

After performing in Catalonia as a soloist and with his group for a while he travelled to Japan where he worked in the famous tablao El Flamenco de Osaka with his mother and his uncle, El Toleo, for six months.

When he came back he moved to Madrid where he had the chance to work with great artists such as Manolete, Rafael Amargo or Antonio Canales.

He worked again for Joaquín Cortés until he joined the company of Sara Baras in which he stayed for almost 10 years.

Miguel has performed along with great flamenco artists such as: Niña Pastori, Tomatito, Estrella Morente, Joaquín Sabina, Miguel Poveda, etc.
