CAREER: José Antonio Martín Yáñez, known as Salao, is one of the greatest outstanding flamenco artists in Catalonia. He stands out for his creativity, his way of modulating the sing, unique in his tessitura, only accessible to the greatest artists.
He is considered as one of the latest figures of Catalan flamenco singing. He is a discreet and shy artist who has fascinated the audience.
He became a flamenco fan when he was a child. He listened to the records that he has at home of the masters of classic flamenco. The interest turned into passion and the passion turned in his way of life until his collaboration with the guitarist Juan Ramón Caro gave him a standing name.
In 2011, in his first experience in the world of flamenco singing contests, Santa Coloma de Gramanet named him as the best voice of the Spanish flamenco, being awarded with the first prize in the prestigious National Singing Contest Yunque Flamenco.
In 2012 he toured the main concert halls of Barcelona, accompanied by the Catalan Juan Gómez Chicuelo, a musician who has worked with great flamenco figures- Morente, among others- Salao & Chicuelo performed in the hall Jamboree and in the Cycle In(fusión) flamenca in Besós.
In January 2013 he offered a recital in the Festival Catalunya Arte Flamenco, accompanied by the guitarist José Andrés Cortés- Bordón Minero- the year 2009 in the International Singing Festival Las Minas (La Unión, Murcia).
