As part of the 55th Anniversary Series, May welcomes an extraordinary lineup led by two giants of flamenco in Barcelona: Alfonso Losa and José Maya, essential artists who embody the strength and innovation of contemporary flamenco.
They are joined by talents such as Águeda Saavedra, Paula Salazar, José Montes, Tete Fernández, Cristina Soler, José Escarpín, and Carmen Moreno—a stellar cast that brings together experience, youth, and deep artistic passion.
This month, Tablao Flamenco Cordobes reaffirms itself as the beating heart of pure and thrilling flamenco.

Alfonso Losa
Dancer and choreographer Alfonso Losa is the leading figure of the Madrid flamenco school and a living bridge between tradition and innovation. With a unique style, he has skillfully blended classical elegance with contemporary energy and rhythm, becoming one of the great modernizers of flamenco dance. He has received numerous awards, including El Desplante (La Unión), the Soleá Prize (Córdoba), and Best Dancer at the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Competition in Madrid. He has shared the stage with flamenco legends such as Enrique Morente, Tomatito, and Gerardo Núñez.

In 2021, he premiered "Flamenco: Espacio Creativo", awarded the Critics’ Prize in Jerez 2022 and performed at major international venues such as the Bienal de Sevilla, La Villette in Paris, and Théâtre de Nîmes. In 2023, he launched "Alter Ego" with Patricia Guerrero, earning both the Critics’ and Audience Awards in Jerez 2024. A respected teacher and authentic artist, Alfonso Losa creates without breaking, explores without losing his roots, and dances from a place of truth.

José Maya
Flamenco dancer José Maya, born in Madrid, comes from a family of flamenco artists, including bailaora Fernanda Romero, painter Antonio Maya, and cantaor Gabriel Moreno. He began his career at just 9 years old, sharing the stage with legends such as Antonio Canales, Joaquín Grilo, and Enrique Morente. At the age of 10, he won a television contest and was soon awarded the Copa Pavón as a guest artist with Pepe Habichuela in Salzburg.

He has appeared in productions such as Raíces (Antonio Canales), Racial (Carmen Cortés), and Tiempo al tiempo (alongside Israel Galván, Belén Maya, Gerardo Núñez, among others), and was a guest artist with the Ballet Joven de Madrid. In 2000, he received the Best Dancer award at the Teatro Albéniz Dance Competition.

José Maya has premiered shows such as Flamenco (2006), Al natural (2007), and Vértiges by Tony Gatlif, performing on international stages and at renowned festivals. He has shared the stage with artists like Farruquito, Tomatito, Estrella Morente, and Ketama, and has opened for Beyoncé, Björk, and Marc Anthony.

Celebrated for his commanding stage presence and versatility, José Maya is one of the most outstanding figures in today’s flamenco scene.

Águeda Saavedra
Águeda Saavedra began her dance career at an early age, studying Spanish Dance and Flamenco at the Professional Conservatory of Malaga when she was just 8 years old.

Throughout her career, she has won several awards and performed in tablaos and prominent festivals. She has been part of companies such as Daniel Doña and Manuel Liñán. In addition, she performed as a soloist in the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía under the direction of Úrsula López. Her standout performance in the show *Sí quiero* by Mercedes de Córdoba, premiered at the 2022 Festival de Jerez, earned her the Revelation Artist Award.
In 2023, she presented her first solo show, “Venero”, at the Jerez Festival. Her passion for dance has led her to share her art as a teacher in many countries.

Paula Salazar
Paula Salazar is a flamenco dancer from Málaga who began her training at the conservatory and local dance schools in her hometown. At a young age, she moved to Seville, where she studied under renowned masters at the Andalusian Dance Center and other prestigious schools in the city.

She has been a member of the companies of Rubén Olmo and Joaquín Grilo. In 2022, she was awarded second prize at the International Cante de las Minas Festival and was a finalist in the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Competition in Madrid.

In 2024, she premiered her first solo show, “Amor Fati”, at the Jerez Festival. She now balances her solo career performing at top tablaos across Spain with touring her productions throughout Europe. Most recently, she premiered her latest solo recital, “Preludio”, in Paris.

José Montes
He trained at the “Antonio Ruiz Soler” Professional Dance Conservatory in Seville, specializing in Spanish Dance. He furthered his education at the Andalusian Dance Center and the Cristina Heeren Foundation, where he was awarded a scholarship for three consecutive years. He studied under flamenco masters such as Javier Barón, Luisa Palicio, Pastora Galván, and Eva Yerbabuena, among others.

He has taken his art to countries like France, Italy, Abu Dhabi, Austria, Morocco, and Mexico, both as a soloist and with various companies. In 2021, he premiered his show Ciudad de plata in Seville and later in Vienna. He has also been part of productions such as Recital and Con bata y mantón, the latter premiering at the Teatro Real in Madrid.

Currently, he performs in prestigious tablaos across Spain, including “Los Porches,” “Torres Bermejas,” “Tablao de Carmen,” and “Jardines de Zoraya.” He has also participated in recitals at renowned flamenco peñas and festivals. In 2020, he was awarded First Prize at the 4th Tablao Dance Competition “Ciudad de Jerez.”

Tete Fernández
Ricardo Fernández “El Tete”, is a young flamenco dancer from Sant Roc, Badalona, born into a Gypsy family.

The strength and elegance of his dancing are propelling him to the top of the flamenco world. Despite his young age, he displays remarkable artistic maturity on stage. He has starred in shows such as Flamenco de sangre and Jubileo, and was invited to perform with the company of legendary guitarist Tomatito, where he showcases his deep emotion and passion for flamenco dance and culture.

El Tete has a special star. He embodies flamenco in every sense, with a dance full of fire, strength, and elegance—a raw and authentic expression that resonates deeply. Without a doubt, he is on the path to becoming one of the great references of this art form.
