Paula Salazar: Strength, Elegance, and Flamenco Soul
📍 Place of birth: Seville, Spain
Paula Salazar is one of the most striking flamenco dancers of today. With a hypnotic stage presence and refined technique, her dance reflects the intensity of her roots and the freedom of her artistic vision. From Seville to the world, Paula has masterfully blended the Andalusian-Gypsy legacy with a contemporary outlook, captivating audiences with her authenticity, rhythm, and ability to move. Each of her performances is a declaration of love for flamenco: pure, honest, rebellious, and elegant.
Training: Between Peñas and Great Maestras
From a young age, Paula was surrounded by flamenco. Her mother was a cantaora (flamenco singer); her father, a guitarist from a Gypsy lineage in Triana. Art was in her blood, and her training began in the living room of her home, where singing and guitar playing set the rhythm of life.
She received academic training at Matilde Coral’s school, absorbing the Sevillian style with discipline and passion. Later, she expanded her vision with figures such as Eva Yerbabuena, La Lupi, and Rafaela Carrasco, enriching her technique with contemporary nuances without losing the soul of flamenco.
Her dance is an expression of her personal story—a blend of lived experiences, heritage, and a constant search.
