Even as a child he danced in many festivals, theatres and flamenco clubs and with 11 years he finally began his dance studies guided by the hands of teachers such as Farruco and Rafael “El Negro”.

He is a dancer very dependant in inspiration, as he has lived at home the flamenco aesthetics and culture and his dance is characterized by a transition far from gimmicky technicality, which highlights his spontaneous naturalness, sometimes recalling his Andorran uncle, Farruco or Pepe Rios. He collects the legacy of his elders and transforms it into his way of feeling and expressing, in an extraordinary way. Pepe Torres dancing is the street dancing in the neighbors yard, polished and updated.

Since he was 15 years old he has performed in clubs, tablaos and national and international theaters. He has danced in the “Flamenco Festival USA”, touring the United States with Juana Amaya and Farruquito, in the show “Por Derecho”. In 2004, he traveled to Japan where he performed in the most important theaters and shows with Manuela Carrasco and Rafael de Carmen, among others.

He formed his own dance company and produced his first show “Así Baila Morón”, presented at the Bienal de Sevilla twice and in the cycle “Bienal Solidaria” performing for the inmates of Seville. He has also performed during the Bienal in shows like “Bailaor” by Antonio Canales, in the Patio Hotel Triana with Son de la Frontera with great success and in the show directed by Ricardo Pachón “Perraterías” with Tomás Perrate in the Central Theater.

Pepe Torres has taken his show to festivals such as the Festival of Gazpacho in Morón and the “Meeting of flamenco singing of the Puebla de Cazalla” festival on several occasions, Caceres Festival or the festival of Nimes in France, among others.

Pepe Torres is the principal dancer for the group Son de la Frontera, with great reception, excellent reviews (Critics Award, Madrid, Award for Best Live Show of the Year) and recognition. They have also been nominated for the Latin Grammy 2007 and awarded by the BBC as the best European group.
