Artist of flamenco roots that exudes purity in himself and in the dance he transmits. Manuel Liñán is life, freshness and passion. After years of research into new trends, this dancer and choreographer is inclined to take dance to an unusual point between genius and simplicity, placing it at the forefront of flamenco.

 

His shows are characterized by an absolute mastery of the stage space and the ability to create new paradigms and extract from them the maximum potential.

 

SOLO SHOWS

 

In 2009 he began his solo career premiering his first show “TAURO”, with which he won the Revelation Award Festival de Jerez. Later he continues with “MUNDO Y APARTE” and “SINERGIA”, shows with which he had the opportunity to tour numerous prestigious festivals, which earned him the Spanish National Critics Award “Flamenco Hoy” for three years, 2006, 2013, 2014.

 

In 2013 he received his first Max Award as best male dance performer. A year later, in 2015 he premieres “NÓMADA”, as part of the Festival de Jerez, a large format show where he highlights his gifts as a dancer and choreographer extraordinaire.

 

He toured with this show in the best Theaters and Festivals in the world such as: City Center (New York), Sadler’s Wells (London), Teatros del Canal (Madrid), Adrienne Arsht Center (Miami), Strehler Theater (Milan), Theater that later claimed his works.

 

In 2016 he presents “REVERSIBLE”, where he breaks with the genre patterns, placing him at the forefront of flamenco. With this work, he wins the Critics Award at the Festival de Jerez, and his second Max Award as best male dance performer.

 

In 2017 he is awarded the prestigious NATIONAL DANCE AWARD 2017, where the jury highlights his artistic maturity, versatility, while broadening the horizons of flamenco.

 

In 2018 premieres “BAILE DE AUTOR”.

 

In 2019 he premieres “VIVA!!!” show with which he revolutionizes the flamenco scene obtaining several recognitions, such as his third Max Award of the public, critics award Festival de Jerez…. The success of this revolutionary show was picked up by important media such as the New York Times, which published an extensive report on the show. Also, and as a result recorded a documentary entitled “flamenco querer” for the New Yorker, directed by eyes film. Currently touring around the world Spain, Mexico, New York, Miami, London, Italy, France, Colombia, Japan …..

 

In 2020 opens in Los Teatros del Canal in Madrid, his latest production “PIE DE HIERRO”. A show that combines tradition and vanguard.

 

DANCER, CHOREOGRAPHER AND DIRECTOR

 

Manuel Liñán is not only a dancer but also a choreographer and director.

 

He has choreographed for other shows such as “Cinco Grandes de la Danza” by Paco Romero, “Cambio de Tercio” by Nuevo Ballet Español, “Mujeres” by Mario Maya, “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” by La Tati, “Dibujos” by Belén Maya, “De Cabeza” by Teresa Nieto, “Con Cierto gusto” and “150gr de Pensamiento” by Rafaela Carrasco, “Si quiero” by Mercedes de Córdoba. Stage director and choreographer of the Gala Todo Cambia featuring Pastora Galván and Belén López, Stage director of Antonio Molina “El Choro” in “Gelem, Gelem” and Artistic Director of “Gala Flamenca” for Flamenco Festival London and USA Guest choreographer of the BALLET NACIONAL DE ESPAÑA in the show Ángeles Caídos y Sorolla.

 

Collaborates with directors such as Daniel Fish for the Strasbourg Opera.
