XXIV Festival de Jerez Revelation Artist Award

 

Giraldillo Revelation XXI Biennial of Flamenco of Seville

 

 

Born in Seville in 1994, and graduated from the Professional Dance Conservatory of Seville Antonio Ruiz Soler, Paula Comitre enters in 2013 in the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía under the direction of Rafaela Carrasco until 2016. It is in that year when she becomes part of David Coria’s company where she participates in the show El Encuentro, and the following year in the show Nacida Sombra of Rafaela Carrasco’s Company, acting as solo dancer and choreographer.

 

 

In 2017 she begins her solo career performing in the best tablaos in Spain.

 

 

In 2019 she is finalist of the Concurso Internacional de Cante de las Minas and at the beginning of 2020 she is part of the show ¡Fandango! by David Coria & David Lagos,as assistant repetition and dancer. This show was co-produced by the National Theater of Chaillot in Paris and also awarded with the Giraldillo to the best show of the XXI Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla and the Critics Award of the XXV Festival de Jerez.

 

 

In February 2020 he premiered his first solo show Cámara abierta at the XXIV Festival de Jerez, winning the Revelation Award of the festival. In September of that same year she premiered the show Electroflamenco de Artomático at the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla and was awarded the Giraldillo Revelation Award corresponding to this festival.

 

 

In February 2022 she premieres her second show Alegorías (El límite y sus mapas) at the Théâtre National de Chaillot in Paris with the co-production of this theater. A show that counts with the collaboration of the contemporary dancer Lorena Nogal and has been staged in major festivals such as the Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla and the Festival de Jerez. It is in March of this same year when she participates in the Chamber Opera La Mujer Tigre, a co-production between the Teatro Lope de Vega and Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.

 

 

Two months later she premiered Cuerpo Nombrado, a small format show at the Festival Flamenco Madrid and with it she has toured festivals such as the London Flamenco Festival and the Festival de Arte Flamenco de Francia.

 

 

He is currently in Paris for five months (from February to June 2023) in a creative residency granted by the Academie de Beaux Arts at the Cité Internationale des Arts.
