Alberto Sellés, a flamenco dancer born in San Fernando (Cádiz) in 1991, began his training at the Virginia and Verónica Vélez Academy before continuing his studies in Jerez de la Frontera with teachers such as Angelita Gómez and Patricia Ibáñez.
In 2010 he premiered his first show, En libertad, at the Real Teatro de las Cortes in San Fernando. His career took off in 2012 when he won First Prize at the XIII Young Flamenco Contest of the Seville Federation of Flamenco Clubs and the XXIV National Flamenco Art Contest of Ubrique.
A turning point came at the Festival de Jerez 2014, where he premiered Las campanas del olvido and was awarded the prestigious Revelation Artist Award. Shortly after, he joined the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, performing under the direction of Rafaela Carrasco (2013–2016) and Rafael Estévez (2016–2018). In addition to standing out as a performer, Sellés showcased his creativity by choreographing Romeras for the show Flamenco: Tradition, Avant-garde and the piece Zorongo for Flamencolorquiano.
His career continued to grow through major projects and collaborations. In 2016 he premiered Inmanencia alongside Javier Barón and Rafael Campallo at the Bienal de Flamenco. In 2019 he presented Once at the Jueves Flamencos de Cajasol with the special collaboration of Milagros Menjíbar, receiving unanimous praise from critics and audiences. He also took part in productions by Estévez/Paños Cía such as El sombrero, El Cuaderno (2021) and La Confluencia.
In 2020 he received First Prize at the Spanish Dance and Flamenco Choreography Contest for a group piece. In 2022 he collaborated in Manuel Liñán’s acclaimed show ¡Viva!.
The year 2023 marked a new milestone with the premiere of Anairein, which earned him a nomination at the Max Awards. That same year, he co-choreographed and performed Nondedeu with Estévez and Paños and appeared in Dando el Cante alongside Miguel Ángel Heredia, El Junco and Juan Tomás de la Molía.
His busy schedule continued in 2024 with Muerta de Amor by Manuel Liñán, the co-direction of the tribute to Merche Esmeralda at Cajasol, and the premiere of Trémula with Miguel Ángel Heredia at the Alicante Festival, later presented at the Festival de Jerez 2025 to excellent reviews. In May 2025 he premiered Deuteronomio 5: 8-10 at the Esch Festival in Luxembourg, co-directed and co-choreographed with Iván Orellana.
Today, Alberto Sellés combines the work of his own company with collaborations with leading artists and companies such as Estévez/Paños Cía, Manuel Liñán, Arcángel and Kiki Morente. His artistry shines both in major festivals and in renowned tablao flamenco venues, including stages dedicated to flamenco in Barcelona, where audiences can enjoy the authenticity and energy of a live Barcelona flamenco show.
