Flamenco… at the Tablao!
During the month of November, we present you some of the young people awarded during 2023 with the most relevant flamenco awards in Spain and Catalonia accompanied by other already established artists.
Irene Rueda
A flamenco dancer born in Granada in 1993, trained at Reina Sofía Conservatory, has performed on prominent stages throughout Europe. Recognized with several awards in flamenco competitions, she has participated in international festivals and premiered her show "Tronie – Portraits of the Soul" at the Festival de Jerez in 2022.
Rocío Reyes
She began dancing at the age of 6. She studied professional flamenco dance at the “Matilde Coral” Dance School. Recently, she was awarded first prize for the ‘Cantiña de Pinini’ in the CreArte Flamenco Dance Choreography Contest (Utrera, Seville).
Lucía 'La Bronce'
A talented 23-year-old flamenco artist with training from the Centro Andaluz de Danza and the Fundación Cristina Heeren. She has been instructed by prominent flamenco masters and has earned notable awards, including third place in the "Manolo Soler" competition. Currently, she stands out as a Bailaora at Teatro Flamenco Triana and Tablao Flamenco Los Gallos, showcasing her versatility in international festivals and tours across various countries.
Carmen Moreno
Dancer born in Almeria, graduated from the Malaga Conservatory of Dance.
Trained by important artists such as Pastora Galván, La Lupi, Chiqui de Jerez or Carmen "La Talegona", among others.
Lorena Oliva
Catalan dancer winner of the 1st Prize in the Barcelona’s II International Dance Contest. She has shared the stage with great flamenco artists such as “Farruquito” in the “Vivir Flamenco” production of Tablao Flamenco Cordobes.
Sara Barrero
This Catalan dancer began her professional career at the age of 16. She has shared the stage with great artists such as: Eva La Yerbabuena, Maite Martín, Belén Maya, Fernando Terremoto, Rafael de Carmen, Manuela Carrasco, Tomatito, Juana Amaya, among others.
Pol Vaquero
Dancer born in Cordoba and graduated from the Royal Conservatory of that same Andalusian city. He has been a leading figure in the Antonio Canales Company and the National Ballet of Spain.
David Romero
Dancer born in Barcelona, current winner of the Desplante 2022 Award of the Festival Internacional de Cante de las Minas.
Yoel Vargas
Graduated from the Professional Conservatory of the Institut del Teatre in 2021 (Barcelona) and recent Honorary Award for Professional Education in the Arts of Catalonia. He is currently a member of the Dance Company of Manuel Liñán and recently premiered his own pieces as a creator at festivals in Barcelona and Madrid.
