Flamenco… at the Tablao!

During the month of November, we present you some of the young people awarded during 2023 with the most relevant flamenco awards in Spain and Catalonia accompanied by other already established artists.

 

María Távora

“Bailaora” from Seville, belonging to a prestigious family lineage linked to flamenco.

Formed at the Conservatorio de Danza de Sevilla.

Runs his own company and performs at the best flamenco tablaos in Andalusia.

 

Pol Vaquero

Main dancer in the Spanish National Ballet (2004-2006).

Main dancer in Antonio Canales dance company.

 

Carmen Ureña

“Bailaora” from Córdoba (born in 1998).

She has toured numerous flamenco festivals 

as a solo “bailaora”, in addition to premiering her own show, Mi eje, as part of the Eutopia festival 

programme. First prize in the Cante de las Minas de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo competition.

 

Rocío Reyes

She began dancing at the age of 6. She studied professional flamenco dance at the “Matilde Coral” Dance School. 

Recently, she was awarded first prize for the ‘Cantiña de Pinini’ in the CreArte Flamenco 

Dance Choreography Contest (Utrera, Seville).

 

Paula Salazar

“Bailaora” from Malaga, winner of the Certamen de Coreografía de Madrid 2023.

Finalist at the prestigious Festival de Cante de Las Minas 2023.

She is currently balancing the creation of her first solo show, which will be premiered at the upcoming Festival de Jerez 2024, with her 

presence in several Seville’s flamenco tablaos.

 

Lorena Oliva

Catalan dancer winner of the 1st Prize in the Barcelona’s II International Dance Contest.

She has shared the stage with great flamenco artists such as “Farruquito” in the “Vivir Flamenco” production of Tablao Flamenco Cordobes.

 

Ángel Reyes

He has toured Spain and the world with his dance. In addition, he has been part of different dance companies, including Álvaro Paños and Jesús Carmona.

 

Adrián Domínguez

Young “bailaor” from Seville, trained at the Dance Conservatory of Seville.

He has won several awards, such as the Talento Flamenco award from the Jerez Festival in 2017.

Performs in the best flamenco tablaos in Seville and Madrid.

For the first time in Barcelona, with Tablao Flamenco Cordobés, as part of its program to support young values.

 

Sara Barrero

This renowned Catalan dancer has performed in the most important dance festivals in Spain and in other countries such as Japan, the United States, France and the Czech Republic.
